CU Pharmacy students, together with students from other disciplines on the Anschutz Medical Campus, have helped launch a student-staffed free clinic serving uninsured adults from the Aurora community. At the DAWN Clinic, student volunteers provide free health services to underserved individuals living in the area. Two pharmacy students involved in the clinic answer some common questions about it in this video.
The school hosted a Career Explorations Seminar Wed., Apr. 8 to highlight unique opportunities within the field of pharmacy. Students heard from three pharmacists at this last seminar: Mark O’Neill, State Board of Pharmacy Inspector, Warren Streck, Chief Pharmacist in Mail Order Services, and Mongthuong Tran, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Utilization Management.
Three students – two third-year pharmacy students, Kelsey Schwander and Sierra Hill, and one second-year student Adam McHenry – traveled to Florida the end of March to represent CU’s Skaggs School of Pharmacy during the Medisca National Student Pharmacist Compounding Competition. I just completed my Advanced IPPE in Steamboat Springs and it was great. This was something that was recently introduced under the new curriculum. In the past, continuous six-week rotations occurred only during the fourth year. Now, we’re being exposed to one rotation during our third year of pharmacy school and I thought the entire experience was excellent.
